princesswoo this is pretty much what i thought when i read it! And for someone eho wants to one day charge for his services he is certainly not endearing himself to his fellow charging photographers (i'm sure) by saying they are ripping everyone off!0

I would have a serious look through his galleries, Personally I would not be happy paying £475 for what is on offer here Quality wise, A decent tog will have his best work on the website, these are not good IMHO.Over 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0 -

I have to agree, some of those shots are shocking, a photgrapher should only ever advertise his best shots not his bad shots as well alingside them. He should edit these out before the client even sees them. A good photographer should take in excess of 400 photos and have about 60-100 gorgeous pics left over after the edit for you to choose from depending on how many you want.
Not to mention that he always seems to be too low, off to one side, too high or too wonky, some shots work fine on an angle others dont. He aslo ssems to chop of the main foval point of the photo leaving a look of free uninteresting space.
Im a hobbyist photographer - going to uni in september, and although ive been taking photos for a few years i wouldnt dare risk doing someones wedding then asking them to pay me for it.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T

If that is the guy  I would cancel him like a shot.
He may be cheap, but he is seriously lacking in talent.
In comparison have a look at this guys wedding pics they are a world apart.
PS I have booked him for my wedding at a great rate, and can report back on how good he is for me.0 -

If this is the chap you're considering it reads like a joke advert posted by a photographer sick of ill-equipped people deciding they can be wedding photographers and posting ads on gumtree.0 -
My SIL used someone off gumtree who was starting up and who did it for free. She was really pleased with the photos but I thought they didn't look proffessional to me. It's totally your choice, you can get in touch for nothing and see how he comes across and then decide.0

Why don't you have both? Like others have said - you'll have way more photos to choose from, probably different styles of photos too.
If you're not going to have to pay to have the second photographer there, then I don't see the harm in allowing him to build up his portfolio. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! The free photographer ad on Gumtree is a wind up.
I know that people do advertise to shoot a few weddings for free so that they can gain a portfolio but I seriously doubt that this is a real ad.0 -
I have decided not to go with the 'free' guy.
Now I am worried about Jason Twinn, because of some of the comments here. The first photographer we picked was not available on the day and most the others in the area are about double the price (which we can not afford and don't really want to pay).
We also have a family friend taking pics. He is a lecturer at our local college on Digital graphics/photography. He has state of the art stuff and has says he will do the videography. He is going to make a video a couple of weeks before our big day of us walking along the beach and chatting etc. He did my dad's wedding and produced really good pics.Became Mrs Lawson on May 1st 2010

I have read on here about people getting professionals to do their wedding for £500, not much more than the £425 you are paying. It may be worth having a look on this thread. There are quite a few on the list from Scotland.0
