Dooyoo Tips

Hi I am really sorry if this has already been discussed but I am new to the dooyoo.co.uk world and was wondering if anyone has any hints or tips on ways to promote your reviews and/or earn more dooyoo miles?

Thanks in advance

I would say, keep your reviews to the point, about the item,

    eg - McDonalds Chicken Sandwich
    Comment on-
    The fillings
    The freshness
    The taste
Did I think it was value for money
    Would I recommend it

Bag Chicken Nuggets - Tesco Value
Comment on the packageing (although we all know what value looks like but)
    The number in there
    the price
the taste - terms of consistency, covering, meat
cooking - is it multi oven/grill
    would I buy it again
    DVD
    The cast
    Runnning time
    DVD extras

Plot line of the film (never give away the ending)
Whether you thought the film was a suitable eg pg - should it of been a 12

    What you thought of it
    Would you recommend it.

    CD

Review each song individually with how you felt, any additional info, eg if there was any top 10 or no 1s from the album.
    Products - if your stuck,
Look in your cupboard, raid the fridge, dvd rack, cd rack

With Dooyoo its as much writing the reviews as reading others, it builds up your circle of friends.

For the 1st month you can do 5 reviews a day,

You may find that when you have the newbie tag, your open to a bit of hassle theirs some die hard that newbies shouldn't be allowed, and there are others if you rate useful they message you and ask why.

Every review u read you don't have to click a rating, its up to you.

    Good luck, xx

(its only few thoughts of the top of my head, but always look at other peoples reviews as it gives you an idea of what quality they expect). x

    Thanks for the above reply.

Up until now I just posted reviews and let people rate and read them without actually looking at any others.

I have now started to rate and read other peoples in hope they will do the same with mine.

Also I have noticed that there will be an influx of people reading and rating my newly posted reviews on the day I submit them but after the first day the amount of people reading the review slows down dramatically, why is this? Do newly posted reviews appear on a part of the website or something?

    Thanks in advance

There is a link thats always brings up the last xx (can't remember how many), of new reviews, the idea is to build up a cirlce of friends that you trust, then your more likely to get them to rate them.

What I did was go via my homepage, see who had looked at my profile and rated my reviews, then i woukd rate 2 or 3 of these, the way I worked it, (just my thoughts) was that if I just reviewed one review it would be like passing through, but by rateing 2 or 3, it shows I'm making an effort to take notice of them, (really its in the hope that they will repay the reviews)

Some people have 100+ friends, so do get their reviews up, I just did them (as it was 50p) and I set myself a target of having 10 people reviewing and rating then thats another 15p added).

Its hit and miss, sometimes one review will blow people out of the water, I had one read 150 times (even if its not rated it still gets the 1.5p) yet only 12 people rated it.

I think that for every review I write, I try to review 2 others, so it looks like 'm not in it for the money xx

  • I'm afraid I can't stand reviews that follow have headings in... It just seems weird and almost like you're writing for the sake of it, not because you have an opinion on it. For instance, I don't want to see 50 out of the 150 minimum words straight away 'spent' on a cast list. If you must, work it into your review but if I want a cast list, I'll go to IMDB. A review to me is an essay; no headings in an essay!

Never, ever, ever give away the plot of a film or book. I normally go about twenty minutes into a film, or to the third chapter of a book - or at least, until where some character development has happened and there's a bit of a problem emerging. Only once have I ever gone into the ending, on my Lovely Bones review as I discussed the differences between the book and film, which I put big spoiler tags before because it's not fair to spoil people's viewing or reading of something.

Food is a nice and easy little category to get started in; though a fair few people don't like the section because it's incredibly simple to write a review about a packet of biscuits you have in your cupboard. But then again they're normally the ones on 75k miles and 15 crowns...

The main point of a review is to inform your audience - so inform them! Always ask yourself "What would I want to know if I hadn't already bought/tried/seen this?" Pricing, nutrition info for food, running time, dimensions, colour etc. are all useful, work them into a paragraph somewhere. How durable is it? What did your friends think of it? Any comments from others? In a film, did you find you were clock watching? Would you buy said film on DVD? It's little things that can bump you up from a bit naff 200 word review to a better, more read 550 word review.
