    In terms of what?

If you mean you have USB 1.1 then yes it is, it will just run slower.
If you mean with operating systems then it's a little murkier. - Although you *should* be able to run through anything from WIN 98 SE onwards.

I'd really not recommend using an external hard disk through USB 1.1. It will work without problems but file transfers would be very noticeably slow.

I don't know how you would plan to use the disk (laptop or desktop) but you can buy a USB 2.0 PCI card for about £10 (or less). This would only be an option if you are using a desktop computer.

They have the Seagate 200Gb 8MbC RB for 69.99 too - seems a good deal also?
  • Another option for a large, good, cheap hard drive:

    Brand: Freecom
    Size: 400GB
    Connection: USB2
    Comes with some backup software
Website price is £120 but there is also a voucher in the voucher/coupon section that brings it down to £115 inc delivery.
That's the cheapest 400GB one I can find.

Any comments on Freecom before I spend my money?
