Sweet white miso (not organic, but GM-free)- £1.53 for 500g
Sainsbury's:
Sweet white miso (organic) - £3.99 for 250g:eek:
I love interesting food and new flavours so when I spotted some miso paste in a health food shop I felt compelled to try it. And hey, what do you know? It makes amazing soup! I did a lot of looking around to try and find a cheaper source than the supermarkets but I really struggled until I found this website. It's for a shop in London, so if you're down that way you can just go there
I ordered a load of stuff - miso, noodles, soy sauce (it was cheaper!), fish stock and seaweed - and it arrived a few days later by Parcelforce, and more importantly cost significantly less than Sainsbury's or any of the health food shops I tried. And yes, it tastes pretty good
i haven't checked all the prices but I'm betting that most of what they sell is a heck of a lot cheaper than the supermarket equivalent.

A second thumbs up for the Japan Centre. Their prices are much more reasonable than the supermarkets and much of the food and drink products are Japanese brands. If you're ever in London, they do some of the best, reasonably priced sushi and sashimi.
You might also be interested in Seoul Plaza. As the name suggests, it's mostly Korean food but also has Japanese products: www . koreafoods . co . uk0 -
Thanks for this :T
I love all things Japanese so shall be having a pleasurable browse through all the sections0 -
you may also want to try http://www.wingyip.com/ this is where i get you can buy a whole array of asian stuff. there's branches in london and birmingham too.
in all big towns and cities you'll find chinese supermarkets that will sell miso. they come in about 3 different kinds and they're around £3 or so for a medium sized tub/packet. just google the nearest one to you .0
