Anyone won a newspaper comp that wasn't their region?

I always wonder whether it's worth entering the newspaper comps (and indeed radio station comps) that are outside my region.

Has anyone ever won?

Thanks (apols if this is in the wrong place btw)

  • Hello! I haven't yet. I have had a look at the T+C's of some in the past and they have said either "you must be a resident of the UK" or "you must reside in the broadcast area". So I'm guessing some mind and some don't.
  • My husband won on heart essex last year and we live in sheffield.
When they were talking to him and realised where he was from they did say not to say it on air, HTH.
:j It doesn't get any better than this :j

I've won Radio competitions from outside my area before, in fact I won one today! They have all been online competitions, not the on air ones. I think there are some, I believe Heart is one of them, which say you have to be in the listener area.

I'm not sure about newspapers though. I always give them a go but I do wonder if I would win not being in the distribution area.
    Thanks to all posters!

yes i've won as well from an english local paper and i live in scotland, if they ever questioned you entering you could always say you were on holiday in area at the time, also won won cd from a non local radio station, with most of them being digital now you can really listen to them anywhere. Keep entering and good luck :)

I've won from a newspaper in Lancashire. I have also received messages from other members to let me know that they have from newspaper contests out of their area.
It can appear that only locals win but that may that more locals will visit the newspaper relevant to them, whereas we are just flitting from one to the other to harvest the bits that we want.

I've won from the Sheffield Star newspaper, and live in Berkshire, and I've won from a Heart radio station that isn't local to me. My latest newspaper win was from Newsquest (Stourbridge), so you can win from newspapers and radio stations outside your area. x

My local newspaper always asks you to collect the prize from their offices so might not be worth entering if you live a long way away. I also collected a hamper from my local radio station once.

i posted something similiar not so long back, and i have won from radio stations outside my area, the thing is most radio stations you can listen to online anyway,so if they say anything you can always say i listen online, same for newspapers you can read them online,if they query it,you read it online,to be honest i dont think theres a lot they can do.
    It`s getting to the point
