Paying off student loan

Hi All,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I did a quick search about this one and couldn't find anything. I have a 3 student loans (from '93, '94 and '95), and have so far managed to avoid paying them back. However, this year I am borderline. My salary is about £75pm under the threshold.

However, do they take into account Child Benefit and Tax Credits? If so it takes me over the limit. Seems a bit unfair as that money is for the baby, not me!

Obviously I would prefer to defer the loan as long as possible while the interest rate is at -0.4%, but if I can't then so be it!

I always assumed it was taxable income, not benefits.
