I pay each month by calling up and giving my information over the phone. I had a direct debit cause me difficulties once and this is why I have preffered to do this.
I am in the midst of a muddle at the moment and confess it slipped my mind, I was over a month overdue and have paid it today. I did recieve a reminder letter and text.
I have now cleared the balance in full, including this month's bill but the other was significantly overdue and I am worried that this will affect my credit rating as we are being checked in order to rent a flat this month.
Is it likely to?
I'm really quite frightened
I am averagely good otherwise, never miss anything on credit cards, and stay within my overdraft, bar once, but erg :S

You should be fine, it may show up on the file as a missed (late) payment. I didnt pay for 2 months over a dispute on mis selling, it was resolved but no missed payments recorded.
But i honestly would not worry as it is the first time it has happened.
Even if it is recorded, it is not going to have any impact that would stop you renting, with the added fact it takes them time to submit late payments and such, it probably wouldn't show until after there credit check on you.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
I used to work as an estate agent and i can only speak for who i worked for but they really werent that bothered about the credit check. as long as people dont lie as say that they dont have any ccjs, and then they do... its pretty irrevent as all they are bothered about is that you can pay your rent and that you are decent people who wont trash the place. the main thing they are interested in is your income, your employer reference, and your previous landlord reference
i have a very poor credit rating and i still got approved for a flat last year no probs0
