I signed on last week for the first time an I have done so many MS thongs including do our budget, get rid of ppi on loans etc, started the this months grocery challenge, started saving £2 coins, so was begining to feel in control, but I hadn't budgeted for a whole load of things that have all come at once.
My car needs mot, service and its not going to pass its mot, at the moment its going to be around about £480 inc mot, service and the work we know about that needs to be done! Our friend normally does it, but he is getting married in 2 weeks and he is trying to finish their house as they have done major renovations! And it needs to be taxed, I cannot do without my car I work 30 miles away in a city, but I work on the otherside of city to the train station, so alternative journey not a option.
On top our friend who is getting married, I have done all their strationery for the wedding as I write in calligraphy, but I also said I would do all this and have their seating planner printed exactly how they wanted for their wedding present, well that was 9mths ago when I was flush! We've had no money for 2weeks so petrol and food has gone on the credit card, so by the time we get paid, pay all outgoings etc we would have added about £1200 on to our debt balance:mad:
Its all gone mad!!!
I hate this inbetween stage where I'm waiting for things to happen like new account opening, ppi to be stopped etc..
Anyway I thought I would share my frustration with my DFW friends!

Hey hun - it will pick up soon.
These things would have happened before but you would probably have put them on the cc without thinking. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Its the law of sod, just as you think its all going well something will happen!!
I have an allotment, which I started in October (money saving and the feeling of wellbeing only found by growing your own food!) and a few weeks ago I went to buy some strawberry plants (juicy strawberries next year - yum!) all went well, told the chap I had £10 in my purse how many could I get, he bungs in a few extra (not sure if he felt sorry for me for being skint, or if it was because his daughter goes to the school I work in) I get in the car, am concentrating on the huge brick wall on the passenger side of me.......and reverse into his car (that'll be the last discount he ever gives me!!) it was my car that recieved the most damage, and he was really great about it, doesnt expect me to fix his car, but it does mean I have to find about £400 to fix my car, I dont really want to claim on my insurance, and I don't have protected no claims...........so "oh bum" were my thoughts!!
I came home and cried, well I drove home and cried, then came in the house and cried....................I can barely afford £40 let alone £400.....I felt like driving to the nearest cliff and going straight over it.......these things are sent to try us and try us they will!!
Maybe you could drop some huge hints to your mechanic friend, or ask him blatently, depends on how good a friend he is...........it will only take a few hours away from his house, and will be a few quid in his pocket too.

Know exactly how you feel...when I started my debt free journey some numpty thought it would be a great idea to walk over my car, smashing windscreen & on top of eveything else it nearly finished me off. This is the worst bit, the sorting but so just carry on as you are and things will improve but it takes time...big hugs...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
