Credit report
Options
I have a default on my credit report. I've got Experian and Equifax reports. Both had wrong information on them.
My mother as an associate! Then my dad appearing under searches carried out.
I looked a creditexpert. I don't know if I should just sign up to them, to keep up to date on my file? They seem to cover the other two credit bodies. Any advice?
I shall assume, that as the default is there for 6 years I will be in for no chance for credit? Tried to apply for an Argos card but got declined.
The loan I have with Credit Union does not appear, only the fact they had done a search. Was hoping it would be on the reports to help my score.

Bryando,
Probably best to get your mum disassociated by writing to Experian - don't want to impact her rating.
If your default is genuine then you are stuck with it for 6 years unfortunately. If you have since settled it though, make sure whoever it was shows it as settled - that will help you a bit.
Credit union loand won't necessarily snow - not many of them are registered with credit agencies.
You could try applying for a 'credit builder' credit card from someone like capital one - that will help get you back on the lader. Once the default is a bit older you should be able to get more types of credit again.
Storecards are generally a bad idea though - big interest bills and you are probably better off saving up if you can.
Good luck
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Just spoken with my mum. She has never had contact with source Experian state. So contacted Experian again. They did remove the two entries. However yesterday it got created again, this time no source! Strange as they put it.
Tried Capital one they declined me. That was last year. Maybe as the used assocaite information also. As said they did.0 -
I meant Callcredit. Should I just sign up to this?0

Creditexpert only relates to your experian report, its run by experian. I would say its unlikely to be worth the cost you would pay. You might be better just ordering the statutory report every 3months or so (£2 per CRA).
Does you Dad have a similar name to you? this maybe part of the problem. Contact experian clarifying that you are not the same person and that you are not linked to your mother.
Did you actually default on this account? Did they send you a default notice at the time.
The default will stay on for 6years but shouldn't stop you getting all credit - its likely that once its, say, 3years old it will have little effect. You could try improving your credit history by taking out a subprime card and using it each month -but make sure you repay it in full each month so you don't get charged their high interest rates.
EDIT - callcredit is the third credit reference agency, it could show the same info as experian & equifax or could show less (or possibly more). Its the least used CRA by potential lenders.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yes my dad name is the same. I did default with vodafone this is correct. DLC are collecting the debt at 12.00 per month. Think i've got 150.00 left so I'm thinking the quicker paid off the better. Would I be correct in saying I can add information to explain my default? My ex had taken my phone and decided to run up a bill. The time I got to deal with it missed one payment then the next then default. However I'm unsure what I can say that might help me. As putting in my ex partner did it is not good idea. Blame him not me situation0

I've been in and out hostels for say past two years. Lived in a house say one month then left. I've supplied my addresses I have resided in for a good while, only included a hostel as was in for a while.
Am I under obligation to supply ever address I have stayed at? Hope not!0
