    Morning all

still no commission cheque so hopefully that'll arrive today. Also had some good news yesterday. My midwife advised me to call about a grant you can get when your pg and after chatting to the bloke on the phone he's certain we'll qualify. If we do it'll be £500 extra for us, so fingers crossed.
Guess what my jammy mum won £500 on bingo on sun! I never win anything like that.

Can i just ask, i know some of you have second jobs and wanted to know how tax is worked out.
OH is thinking of taking on a second job in order to clear our loan quicker, he currently works 30hrs and gets £161 a week after tax and NI (pants i know hence the 2nd job:o), so the 2nd job is only a few hrs a wk and would get around £40 and £100 a week (self employed) but how would the tax be worked out and would it be worth it?

Nickynoo, your OH would be on "basic rate" tax which works out at 25% instead of the 22% which he will get taken from his first job.

Seems unfair that the harder you try the more you get taken :( We both used to have 2nd jobs cos we had no choice at the time, but when I upped my hours at my main job it meant we could leave the 2nd jobs. You get really stung for tax which annoys me when people are making the effort to go out and work, but if you need the extra £100 a week then I'd say it was still worth it definately. Try not to think of the tax if you really need the extra money, or you'll talk yourself out of it. :o

Thanks sweetpeas, it really is pants. After doing the sums i reckon we'll be around £600- £900 a year better off, and anything extra off the loan has to be a bonus. Just wonder how it might affect our wtc and ctc:o

I've not been on for two or three days - no change here I just didn't feel like it. Thanks for all your hugs and best wishes

Posted my final eBay item for now (she only paid a week after winning) yesterday so I do have a little bit to add later
