Why am I suddenly getting lots of texts and calls to my mobile about loans?

Options
I haven't applied for any loans or debt management services, yet over the last week, I have received lots of calls and texts saying I have applied for both. They even know my name. How? And can I stop the calls, short of telling them that I never applied for the things in the first place? Am I on a list somewhere, or are these spam calls?

Have you been on Equifax or Experian websites? Looking at cars online?

Indeed... have you been crazy enough to fill out ANY online form using your real name and mobile number??
  • Same reason people start getting loads of calls about insurance come renewal time... you've been added on to some kind of database and you've either ticked, or not unticked one of the 'we will share your details with third parties' boxes.

  • Yes, I have been on Experian a while ago, but not recently. Don't usually fill out online forms with either name or phone number. Thanks for the tips though!
