Making cards - Ideas for beginners (part 4)

Hi everyone...hope your days have been ok so far

I'm in need of a little help please Just went to pick Alex up from school & one of the mums (old friend from school) said she didn't know I was so into craft, but thanks to Facebook she's noticed Anyway gone of cause sos...she said/asked about me making her Wedding Card Invites

She said she wanted Butterflys & the colours Purple & Ivory. Shes going to the NEC wedding fair tomo so I told her to look for anything that catches her eye & see if she can get samples to help me get an idea of what style she likes.

My question to you lovely ladies is do you have an tips of the best places for supplies - card stock, embellisments etc. And if I do get to do this for her what do I charge? Would it be per card or just an overall price?

I can't beleave my luck this last 2weeks, 1 sock creature sold & now possibly these invites. I know I've not definatly got the job but its so nice to be asked, this is the kind of things I've always wanted to do, so fingers crossed

How unimpressed am I? I did a long post last night and came to send it, but I had gone over my time limit I think and had to re submit my name etc, didn't really know how to do it properly to save my post, so lost all my post So re typed it all again, but quicker and slightly shorter and the same thing happened again...fume :mad: so I have learnt that I don't have much time to type an entry to send, so I will have to do them in snippets.. One way of getting the number of posts up I suppose, then I will be able to add links soon, hopefully
I am sending this quick before I am unable to send it again...

Hassy - Welcome My computer does things like that all the time so I know how you feel, mine tends to back up pages as well just as I've done along post..maddening!! lol

Ooohhh well done lady :j :j :j I would charge by the card and include price of materials and your time.
Docrafts do a beautiful butterfly punch where the wings stick out - think it's this one
Have a look at the price of card blanks and making your own cardblanks, there's probably a huge difference!

Craftyjuju Well done on the wedding invites order.:) I was asked to do wedding invites before xmas my confidence went way up, then I was given back word this was after I had bought some stuff for them too, I was a bit upset at the time but I have got over it..
I am sure the same won't happen to you and you will be given the order.
I was going to do it the same way as rainmac suggested. I have the Docrafts butterfly punch and it is really lovely. I have used it on a wedding card actually.

Some information on The Papermill shop, if anyone lives in the North West not far from Manchester. The Lowry shopping centre down in Salford Quays has The Papermill together with a Craft @ Home shop, amongst others, but these are the craft shops and if you go on line at The Lowry site, you can apply for a loyalty card that gives you 10% off purchases at some of the shops, the craft shops included!!! :j You can also get loyalty cards from the craft shops too

rainmac - Thanks for the tip, that punch looks sooo nice I do like butterflys so I may have to get it. Hopefully she'll give me an idea if she'd like me to do them or not before I go to NEC because hopefully I may beable to get some bits & bobs there to make them
I could make my own cards especially as I have just purchased the MS scoring board from QVC & yet have not had time to use it!

Taking my mum to Meadowhall tomorrow....wonder if theres a Papermill shop there...mmmm I've already warned her on the way there or on way back I'm popping into the Hobbycraft store near by for a quick look...she'll moan but never mind
