Yay glad you got your refund JHB, how presumptuous of them (ooh big word) to assume you'd be placing another order!!

Thrifty - Have you heard anymore news re your sons funding or is it a case of playing the waiting game for a bit.

Thanks for asking - I've haven't posted because I didn't want my posts to turn into frustrated, emotional rants

According to Social Services / local government the Autism Centre has no problems with funding and they have discharged ds into their care. Fare enough, our ds has no social service requirements - his needs are all communication based (not language but social interaction iyswim).

Despite agreeing to start my son's care before Christmas, the manager of the Autism Centre is still not providing services specifically for my ds. After the furore of my complaint, she arranged for my ds to access support from a care worker assigned to another 18 year old with Aspergers. He has had two visits - the first went well. Yesterday, we arrived and we weren't expected . They arrived 20 minutes late and accused my ds of being early . There is to be no visit next week as the lad with Aspergers wants to spend time alone with his care worker which leaves ds yet again with no intervention .

It's simply not good enough but I feel like I'm fighting a battle that I will never win and every time I "lose" ds is getting the message that he is not important enough to provide care for. He doesn't need grinding down any further than he already is.

Our problem is that we are a supportive family and ds has no behavioural issues therefore ds is not a priority case. If ds was a violent trouble-maker and we were a dysfunctional family who couldn't cope, ds's needs would become urgent. The two young men with Aspergers that I have met at the centre have troubled backgrounds, they have come through the care sysyem but just happen to have Aspergers.

I had such high hopes for this centre but now I'm really confused as what I'm seeing is a facility that seems to cater for individuals with classic autism or Aspergers who have no family back-up. Is this the right place for ds??? I'm just so exhausted fighting and feel so guilty because in the middle of this is an 18 year-old young man, isolated at home with only his Mum for company.

Jeesh, talk about lessons in real-life.

If you are still reading, sorry for dumping this here :(. I need to do something constructive, like go paint a wall :rotfl:

    Thanks for listening, Thriftyxxx

The 'list' is going well! Easier for me than making cards:rotfl::rotfl:
I'm going to wait 'til after Easter before I finalise it as I need to be sure I've got permission for everyone and to give folk time to see what's going on.

PepPop - can you pm me your address? Thanks

Flourgirl - can you give permission please?

Popkins - can you give permission please?

Thrifty - Never apologise for putting your feelings on here - we all do from time to time - that's what friends are for. Re no meeting next week for your son will he get "one to one" the following week? He should! though you'd think interaction with others would be a big part of it!

JHB - glad you got money back

CraftyG - tell Princess K I will be watching for postie & let her know as soon as parcel arrives - THANK YOU

So hooked on the list I can't remember any more.....sorry!

    Charlie23 Your card is lovely

Craftygranny - that's fantastic news about Alicia :j

TomsMum Hope you get great news about OH today - fingers crossed for you.

Rusty don't know if you want to hear this but our weather report last night said that the Highlands would get 30-40cm of snow today and it's to last to the weekend. It must be bad cos it's snowing here as i'm typing and they always get it worse.

JHB Hope the hassle with Custom Crafts hasn't take the shine off of your win

Thrifty Sending you hugs. It sounds as if you're in the middle of a red tape nightmare. I can never understand how these people prioritise. Why is it always the people in need that suffer this cr*p

Marg Just done it. I added my date too cause I've cross posted and fell of the list somewhere

Thanks for all your support everyone.

Marg - "Should" is a word that I have long ago erradicated from my vocabulary - right, just and fair are words that do not seem to apply to the social and care systems. Whereas money and blame are right at the top of the list. A 1:1, no that's not going to happen because ds is not officially on their books and yep interaction is what is needed, if interaction skills are not present naturally then they need to be specifically taught but hey what do I know - ooohh, can you hear the cynicism in my post.

Right enough of this subject and on to what's important - fabulous makes on everyone's blogs folks.

    plane47.jpg

This is PONR coming home. One plane for her and the rest for her stash :D

I love this image and have a picture in my head of PONR on the plane covered in bags of stash :)PONR, hope you have a good journey back but you may want to stay on the plane and head back as the weather here is grim :(

Thrifty, I just want to go and shake the people you are having to deal with, or give them a good slap. Sending you huge hugs xxx

Gemm, how are you feeling now?

Skiergirl, did you buy anything from the Stitching Shed stand???

So, anyone got any plans for the long Easter weekend? We were thinking of going to the safari park but I don't really fancy going if the weather is carp. We've got some serious garden tidying to do so need better weather. Fingers crossed it will change for all of us as we head to Friday x
