Retro - great news about the beds. Tesco and Argos have some half price single mattresses atthe moment with very good reviews, plus Argos are doing vouchers £5 for £50 spend or £10 for £100. Tesco have some codes too that work on the mattresses. Hope the boys like their space.

Dylan has always woken up around the 4-5 am mark as a final no going back to bed. He also wakes up throughout the night some days, sometimes several times a night. So pretty terrible really, I just want him to wake up and play in his room for a bit instead of climbing all over me, jumping on me and trying to get me up too. It's sweet that he likes my company but also getting annoying now.

Have you tried a reward chart with Dylan? Hes at the right age and stickers always go down well with them at this age....Im probably preaching to the converted here but worth a shot?

On the subject of sleeping I long for the day when my 2 boys want to stay in bed! They are up at 7am every morning regardless of what day/ season it is- at 10 and 12 years old I was kinda hoping that the pre teen sloth mode would have kicked in by now lol

Home now, not sure how I can still be exhausted after two days of relaxing really, but I think I'll wander into town on the off chance the shops may be open to pick up some bread and post my library books back lol..if not I'm sure the walk will be good anyway, or should I take the bike? Hmm..

Yes tried a reward chart but it was really hard to get him to understand as he never deserved the reward. We bought a gro clock so that now he knows when it is acceptable to come in our room. It's set to 5am but he never waits for the sun to come up. He totally understands that he's not supposed to but I think he can't help it. Every 6 months or so we say to each other "this can't go on for much longer, we musr be nearly there" but no!

Vicki, hopefully when he gets used to his new bed he'll not come disturbing you so early. Thankfully my kids must have inherited mine and OH's 'late risers' genes because we've never had that problem
