Freeze Dried Strawberries?

Does anyone know where I can buy a bag of dried strawberries or raspberries, the kind they include in cereals like Optivita and Special K? I find they never put enough fruit in the boxes and what there is gets gobbled up very quickly by my little daughter. If I can buy my own bag I can add it to whatever cereal I like. Thanks :)

  • It's okay; I've just found some. I'm not sure £4.99 for 100g is particularly cheap, or is it?

  • I think Morrison's had these last year, but they were probably more expensive than what you've found. Their bags were ~15g and cost £1.20 iirc. (certainly that sort of price).

  • Thanks for that, Mrs B, I'll consider ordering some from that website then. I'll just have to find a safe hiding place from little prying hands :)

I've seen some in my local Asda store, but just small packets. My kids tried the dried strawberries & loved them. What about somewhere like Julian Graves or other healthfood shops ?

  • I'll have a look in Julian Graves the next time I'm in Norwich, thanks. I don't think there's one in Bury St Edmunds which is closer to where I live, unfortunately.
  • They do them as Space Food in Hawkins Bazaar. Think they were around £2 ish.
  • Ooh, there's a Hawkins Bazaar in Bury St Edmunds so I can have a look on Saturday. I had a quick look on the website and I'm not sure they're exactly the same product. The blurb says these ones expand in your mouth when they're rehydrated so they might be fun to try too. I also noticed they're £2.99 for 19gm.

Julian Graves do them mixed in with others - raspberries blueberries etc. Think they work out at about £3.99 (or something) for 100g You could also look for your local health food shop, I paid about £4.99 for 125g for DS1's cooking assesment!

Not exactly value for money then :D
I actually bought them as a stocking filler for DS, he loves gimmicks like that.

I used to do this when I was little!!

Have you tried health food stores like Holand and Barratt and other health food stores local to your area? they may be able to get some in for you if you ask.

I have seen them in my local supermarket but its about 50 aisles long and in London so not sure if thats any help, also Wholefoods in London sell them.
