Blu Ray price glitch at Tesco Enter with Clubcard points code = profit

hduk find

this blu ray and minority report seems to be mispriced but there is also a code for 200 points on pre orders (£8 in deals) so in profit. Make sure the 200 points code is accepted

  • This offer was on both "the men who stare at goats" and "minority report" Blu Rays. They were available for £3.97 each up until about 10:30am. The prices are now £16.97 for Goats and £15.97 for Minority Report, so an obvious price error.

I doubt whether the orders (I ordered one of each) will be honoured, as Tesco is not obliged to sell for that price if it is an error, especially as they don't take payment until despatch. Won't find out for 6-8 weeks (both items are pre-orders).

Tesco has a history of not honouring mis-priced DVDs and Videogames in the past.

  • Unfortunately, I have just had my order cancelled by Tesco with no explanation. Thanks anyway it was worth a try.
  • Tesco cancelled on me too. The cancellation email is very abrupt and does not explain why they cancelled - those Inglorious Basterds!

I fired off an email explaining how unimpressed I was. How many times can they hide behind their terms and conditions relating to mis-price before this stinks of deliberately advertising a low price to generate interest well in advance of release of a "pre-release" order product, knowing full well that they won't have to honour it?

I've had an email back to say that my email enquiry is being dealt with. Im sure they have a junior lawyer constructing a water-tight generic reply as we speak.

What exactly constitutes a price that is too low? How low is too low?

This is the 4th time in 3 months that they have done this with DVDs/Blu Rays/Videogames.

Email to Watchdog will be sent today.
  • Reply from Tesco (and my original email of complaint below), was hoping for a voucher code or something, not a sniff of one:-

SubjectOrdering CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discussion Thread Response (Natalie McHardy)26/02/2010 01.18 PMDear Matthew,

Firstly, please accept my apologies for the delay in my reply and thank you for taking the time to contact me at Tesco Entertainment. We try to reply to our customer emails within 24 hours, and I am sorry that I have not done so on this occasion.

I cannot apologise enough that after waiting for your order, you received an email saying that your order had been cancelled. I have spoken with the staff in our warehouse, and they have confirmed that unfortunately they have had to make the difficult decision to cancel your order due to a pricing error on our website.

I am so sorry that we have let you down on this occasion, but I do hope that you are willing to give us another chance to provide you with the service that you rightfully expect and deserve from Tesco.

Once again, my apologies for the delay in getting back to your email and I hope that you have a lovely day.

    Natalie McHardy
Tesco Customer Service Manager Customer (Matthew Aisbitt)24/02/2010 04.01 PMTesco Entertainment:-

Another cancellation following another £3.97 "deal". Is there no end to your false advertising of deals that are "too good to be true", and reneging on your offer to supply goods at the advertised price (when the order was placed).

Hiding behind your terms and conditions which service yourselves and do nothing to protect the consumer is not the way to act for an organisation such as Tesco.

Many people would like to think they can trust the supermarket giant they use on a regular basis. I am finding out that I must take all of your "offers" with a pinch of salt.

There isn't even a reason stated in the cancellation notice. I know it cannot be availability as the product is a pre order, so it must be the price.

Set low to entice, I believe this to be a deliberate act of false advertising, and am dismayed at the way my order has been handled.

First and last day of my using a Tesco Entertainment account.

    Thanks for nothing Tesco.
