Incident, Fraud and Claims Investigator

Hi
Is there anyone out there working as an incident,, fraud and claims investigator?
I have recently attended an introductory workshop held by a training company with a view to training to become an acredited investigator. It all looks very promising and most importantly recession proof with a decent income on a self-employed basis. However it is quite an expensive commitment to do the training, the company doing the training looks good and 'above board' from what I can see but I just hoped there may be someone on this board that has experience of the work and or training that could advise?
Is it true that there is plenty of work for qualified investigators on a self-employed basis? It seems to be very interesting and varied work.
Thanks

Why don't you find out for yourself? Try looking for the work with a computer mouse in one hand and a bacon sarnie in the other. You will find the same amount of work as you will when you are sitting with a computer mouse in one hand and a qualification in the other.
If you do find any work, ask the people offering it if they set any store by the qualifications this company offers.
The world is full of companies offering qualifications they have just made up and nobody else recognises. Make sure this compay isn't one of them!0 -
Thanks Geordie for your sarcastic reply - I'm already doing what you suggest. I just thought there may ascutally be some investigators on the forum that could tell me about their experience or that somebody may have actually done this training.0

As far as I know all the major insurance companies all use either their own internal investigators or national companies that will cover the whole country. I wouldn't have thought self employed investigators get much work (if any) from the big companies.
Might be worth asking in the insurance forum though.0
