I agree Ada3050 it is a great thread.
This has all started because I have been made redundant twice from really superb jobs in the last 5 years, and now unfortunately I'm stuck in a somewhat less enjoyable job.
As many here have suggested, it's probably my age being almost 40, but I really want time not cash now, and this full time malarky feels like it's wasting my life away y'know?
I loved teabelly's advice, and it was this suggestion that got me thinking about the kind of work that makes me wholly satisfied.
Despite being a graduate, I like physical work, particularly sorting out stockrooms that have fallen into a right mess. It's weird because several of my jobs from my youth involved making an early impact and sorting out stockrooms from a major high street pharmacy to a well known clothing store.
That got me thinking...it's a very niche idea, but would store owners/area managers benefit from hiring a stock room expert on a freelance casual basis to sort out any chaotic stockrooms in their patch?
I'd love to hear from any store owners or area managers with their opinion...0 -
Weaver, I think you have found the start of your journey.
Was watching working lunch earlier, they had a chap on who runs a cornish pasty firm. His advice was ask everyone you know if they would buy/use the idea. It would be a start to ask in a few shops if they would use such a service.
I am at a similar point, used to work in printing and take photographs as a hobby and am thinking of a small venture as a publisher, getting cards published for people etc.
Just need to source a printer who I can trust then I will email a few near by clubs.
Keep us posted as to how you get onKnow the difference between what you WANT and what you NEED. :T0 -
Thanks Ada3050.
The trick now is to find some casual based work, or one-off work that I can turn down if busy, and focus on getting this idea up and running...
Are there any Area managers or store owners here that think my idea is a runner?...0
