  • I think its a refund of the relevant amount overcharged and a giftcard with £2 on . . . or at least it was when it happened to me!

It is meant to be £2 giftcard but some stores dont offer it - I think they conveniently forget.

I always make small talk with the CS assistant and if they only give the difference back I ask if the £2 giftcard policy has finished now and say I only know about it because I had to have a refund on something recently at different store and I was told that its Asda policy ;)

I always say don't you still offer the giftcard for overcharging, if they don't offer.

I asked the same at my local, Havant, shop and they said we don't do it any more, just got the difference back.

Go to https://www.asda.co.uk and click on customer services at the top menu. Then click on frequently asked questions on the left menu then "our services" on the drop down menu.

What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged or undercharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.

So it's still company policy, If you are that bothered about getting your voucher you can either quote their website when claiming your refund, or send a polite email to customer services afterwards.

Thanks John, wasn't overly worried but just show the inconsistancy of the policy.
