old water bill

I posted a request for help yesterday on the utilities forum - water- but wonder if that was the wrong place. I would be grateful if anyone has the time if they would have a look and offer any advise as this relates to a possible debt problem. Thanks It's posted under sheba2 and has the same title as this thread.

Thanks for transferring the info southernscouser I didn't know how to do that. Shame nobody has any suggestions or advise. I've written to the water company and the collection agency asking for more information on the outstanding bill and a statement showing all money paid by us. Does anybody know if there is a time limit on these companies asking for outstanding debt.0

Sorry no-one else has responded Sheba2, but this may help you.....
United Utilities have a debt program, which basically works out that as long as you pay the amount you agree, regularly, then every 3 months they will match it £ for £. And before anyone says "but they ask for too much", when I was on SSP of £57.50 pw last year, they accepted £6pw as that was all I could pay after everything else plus gas & elec bills. I now pay £45 (current year + last 2 yrs) with the knowledge that they credit my account with £135 evry 3 months - makes a change for the bad guys to help to pay the bill, rather than making it worse!
IF the water board decide that this bill IS yours, check out their website for their "help in financial difficulties" bit - thats how I found it.
