Hi all,
Im an assistant manager on a yearly salary and i am contracted to 48 hrs per week.
Due to too all sorts of reasons i have not been doing 48 hours per week (around 40-45 a week) and as a result of that i now 'owe' the company around 100 hours. I have been told by the hierachy that i have to pay these back by doing a few hours more a week till it's paid off.
can they do this? as they have not been able to give me my contracted hours weekely.
your views please
regards

Contracted for 48 hours/week...
Done 40 to 45/week... over a period of about 4 months (?)
Are the actual hours worked a direct result of a lack of work?
or
Is it that that you did not want or could not work those contractual hours?***L'union fait la force***0 -

Yes, basically we can use how many hours we need based on what sales we are prediciting for that day. Sales were meant to go up some 15%, but they have not, hence why i am not getting my weekly hours0 -
I think it all depends on whether you were told to go home each week or whether you went home on your own accord. Also if the company have been paying you for 48 hours work then surely you would expect them to get these hours.
If it was the other way and you were contracted for 45 hours but doing 48 would you expect the company to pay you for these?
Also someone might be able to say but would they be contravening the Working hours directive?Always ask ACAS0
