Keeping windows clean...

I have seen on some of these shopping channel deelies a substance that you can put on windows/car windscreens that repels water/dirt etc.

I was wondering if you wonderful people out there have any suggestions as to what I can use if anything that has a similar effect if indeed the said product works anyway?

I have borrowed some ladders from a very good friend and I don't want to keep asking to borrow them just to clean my upstairs windows.

    i have order some from better where i think about £6.00 i just hope it works havent tried it yet but im totaly fed up washing windows weekley as i live on a bus route
    any cheap ideas would be great too
