What sort of debt was it originally? loan? credit card? something else?

£1 would be for a CCA request

If you are after an account statement, then you would need a SAR that costs £10

You could do the SAR and then get both the CCA and the default letters checked on here.

Hi, anyone have a template letter I could use for this

One of my creditors continues to charge more interest (over £100 a month) than I pay, meaning I will never be debt free unless
    1 - I pay more (which I cant)
2 - I pay less and they sell on (which I cant whilst with CCCS)
3 - they change their mind re interest

I was more or less settled on 2 - self managing my own DMP, and paying less to trigger a reaction, but CCCS have suggested I send £1 and ask for a statement history of account within 12 days, so that I can then write to the Ombudsman to see if he will step in....

I am not 100% sure, but deperate and willing to try anything....anyone have template as lady at CCCS didnt ...

    Thanks

    Hello,

Just noticed your post and there is a sample letter…. Here goes – let me know if you have any questions.

    Sarah

Example letter – request for creditor information
    From:
    Name:
    Address:
    Postcode:
    Date:
    CCCS Client No:
    To:
    Creditor’s Name:
    Account/Agreement No:
    Without Prejudice
    Dear Sirs
With reference to the above account
Please will you send me a true copy of the original signed agreement together with an up to date statement of the account showing all transactions, including interest and charges, and a copy of any other document referred to in the agreement.
I understand I am entitled to this information under ss77-79 of The Consumer Credit Act (CCA) 1974.
I also understand that this information should be sent to me within 12 working days of you receiving this letter. The CCA states that creditors are unable to enforce an agreement until this request is complied with.
I am enclosing the £1:00 fee, payable under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, for each account.
    Yours faithfully
    (Print name)

    Thanks Sarah

The reason I asked the OP what the debt originated from was in case it was a debt not covered by a CCA.
