What to do with Dads money?

MBNA is prob one of the ones with the biggest interest to bite the bullet and get it done you will feel so much better!
your Dad would have been happy to know the money he's left you has left you financially secure ;-)
I totally understand about keeping money aside for emergencies etc i do exactly the same and it would be better paid off my debts but i can't bring myself to leave everything completely to chance while i can manage them - I like to have enough money to cover my bills for at least 3 months just in case.
You could consider paying a lump sum off your loan without clearing it completely it would make a big difference - if you threw say 2k at it that would still leave you with a nice 4k to chuck in an ISA or similar.
And don't forget you're entitled to a little break now and again - so i'm sure it would be reasonable to treat yourself and your family to a one off day out/activity/meal out etc and raise a glass to your Dad while you are there. Hard work deserves to be rewarded occasionally or its easy to get bogged down with it all.
good luck xx

Thanks for your replies.
Ive been saving my family allowance for about 6 months so I am going to use that, together with about £700 0f dads money to pay off MBNA. Will be so glad when that's done. I will then put the money I have been paying out each month on debts into an account to pay for a little holiday in the summer.
ALSO - good news, my DH has hopefully given up the dreaded ciggys at last. He hasnt smoked for a fortnight, so the money he would have normally been spending on Cigs is now going in a pot to pay towards my loan! Im so pleased he has finally decided to give up, for his health and our pocket!
It feels great knowing that I am finally getting my debts sorted.0
