    Most of these free courses are aimed at people on benefits and people with kids, so the session times/dates tend to be during the daytime, even if you've got as far as knowing they exist/finding one that you can get to.

    For people who are working, maybe full-time on low wages, they would struggle in rural areas to find times when they could get to them ... and then they'd find out how much they cost and not bother.

    I knew a woman on benefits wtih kids and she spent all her spare time doing course after course after course.... she was in Manchester and the courses she had available were gob-smacking to me. e.g. she could do Advanced ECDL ... I was teaching ECDL and didn't even know there was an advanced course as it isn't offered in my whole county. She did loads of stuff, because it was available to her, free and local and she had the time as the kids were at school all day.

    Stupid question, but can't these ladies just get their kids to teach them? After they've finished programming the video, of course.
