Free stair gates and fire guard Coventry and other areas

Couldn't find this posted elsewhere. If you live in Coventry and are in receipt of benefits and have a young baby then ask your health visitor for a referral for a free fireguard and stairgates. I think the scheme is called home start. Apologies for lack of details but the scheme isn't widely advertised, I only found out about it from a freegler telling me about it. I have received 2 babydan wall mounted stairgates and a fireguard. The lady that came out to check my house to see what I needed also asked if I needed smoke detectors and they would have sent someone round to fit everything if I wanted them to. The earliest you can ask your health visitor for this is when you take your baby for their 8 month check, your health visitor will also need to see proof of benefits.
If you don't live in Coventry, it may be worth asking your health visitor if you have a similar scheme available to you because as I said, not many people seem to be aware of this.

we have this in our area too, so maybe just worth asking if the scheme os available where you live, i had to ring council safety dept. (i think not sure but was definately thru the council). as well as the fire guard and safety gates i also got corner protectors, cupboard locks, window locks, anti slip bath mat and new smoke alarms
