Applying for a mortgage - new job

Evening all,
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? 4 months into a new job with 2 months left on my probationary period and FD have refused to entertain my mortgage application. They want me to come back in 2 months (by which time it will be to late.)
Ing Direct however never asked about a probationary period despite me clearly stating I had only started my new job in November - mortgage in principle agreed.
I understand different mortgage lenders have different criteria but, as I say, just wondering if anyone else has been caught in the 'new job' dilemma?
Cheers

Hi all,
My partner is just about to jump ship and join a new company - we are first time buyers with a 20% deposit and excellent credit history. Since we are already mentally prepared to resign ourselves to waiting until he passes the probationary period, as HSBC (a lender we were considering) will probably request, just wanted to know whether ING are likely to turn us down!
They have a better rate anyway.
Thx in advance,0 -

Are you sure you were actually refused? I recently took out a mortgage with FD while on a probationary period. They only said that the mortgage could not complete until I was confirmed as permanent, so as they were underwriting the loan, getting valuations etc. I was confirmed permanent, sent them the proof and went ahead.
May be worth phoning them for clarification.
