Make cakestand - advice needed!

Hello - I don't know if this is on the right forum but I am looking for some crafting advice. :D

I have bought some vintage plates that I would like to turn into a 3 tier cakestand - it is for a friend's wedding present. I bought at the same time in the same design an oval plate and some bowls so it would be the perfect hostess gift.;)

However, having searched online I can only find advice on how to glue glasses onto the bottom - I actually want to make a 3 tier with the metal centre rod, ideally with a handle at the top if at all possible. Does anyone know where I might be able to source a supplier of these?

Thanks!

  • You can buy the rod from ebay but it doesn't seem all that cheap. I'm not sure whether you could get a complete one from ebay or a car boot and take it apart?
