Student bursary - Overpayment

  • May i ask how you would have paid the rent if they had not mistakenly paid you?

And if you spent £6000 on rent in a few months, you seriously need to find somewhere cheaper and consider alternative means of funding your course.

Well like I said above, I would have got a job and not finish my work.

Well life costs a bit more than just rent - food, travel expenses and relocation for a job, just to name a few things.

Erm thanks, but no action has been taken. I wouldn't have kept and spent the money if I had other ways of paying rent.

Anyway, I'm paying it back - I was just checking if there are ways around it. :)

Thanks for the (somewhat eye opening) replies people!

    What do you expect?
£6000 is a hell of a lot of money to be overpaid.
I think you thought you had got away with it.
    But you havent.

The price of greed. You were already renting a flat, you signed up for school, got a bursary and then some. You say you had a choice to go to school or to work, you still would have had to have plans for school and paying rent because why apply?

They can withold your certificate if you're in debt to them but you can request a transcript for an administrative fee which will prove you've completed your PhD, if you need such evidence when applying for jobs.
