I think you should buy it. Many of the sustainability plans which are being established at the moment have food waste as a component.
Some supermarkets actually use the yellow stickers to reduce the amount of food which goes to landfill, and would be wasted. There are limited uses at the moment for food waste, and whilst anaerobic digestion and composting are getting popular, they are not ubiquitous. M&S are aiming to send zero food to landfill, and yellow stickering is a key part of this.
I do not buy pineapples when they are full price but will always pick one up when they are reduced - the price is not the issue but I would rather avoid it going in the bin!0
