Advice needed on selling car to get DF!
Ostinato
Okay I have posted a few times here now and basically came to the conclusion after buying a car (which I absolutely love) it has put e in debt and and I am just going to continue getting further into this if I don't sell it.
Anyway unfortunately a few things have went wrong with it and I have had a couple of wee faults (mainly v comon ones tht rnt tht big a deal)
Anyway what I am wondering is whether you guys think it would be worth getting it to a grage and throwing more money at it to then sell it in a good condition... or should I sell it with its faults and just accept a lesser offer? :S
I do want to get DF asap as I don't liek living like this and obviously dont want to pay further insurance and stuff... but really the biggest problem here is just taking the first step in the process of selling this damn car!
Thanks

Hey Ostinato, depends what the faults are. Also the type of car factors into it aswell.:T Debt Free 06/05/2010 :T0

Well its a peugeot 307. The faults are basically the cd player has suddenly stopped working, there is a warning of anti pollution fault (very very common) and then finally the windscreen washer reservoir appears to have some sort of leak :S
I have posted for advice of these and am gonna take a crack at fixing the cd payer later0 -
I take its the hatchback rather than estate or cc, nice common car. If your sure its the water reservoir they can be picked up from a scrap dealer for £10-15 and should be able to be fitted by a garage the same time they fix the pollution fault.
Not sure if your a member of any peugeot owner club forums but they might be more of a help on the inbuilt audio systems in the car. A lot of my friends have sold thier hot hatchs, saloons etc.. to get a normal sized hatch to save money on insurance / petrol / tax so there is a market for the normal hatchs.
Good luck.:T Debt Free 06/05/2010 :T0 -
You need to get a quote for how much it would cost to fix the faults.
Only then can you tell if its worth fixing them. You could also ask on a car forum / peugeot forum if you can find one as to how much difference these faults would make to the price you would get for your car.
Are you still thinking of selling to someone you know or not?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I dont think I wil be selling to someone I know now unfortunately. I had originally planned to sell to my SIL as she wrote off her car and wasnt expecting much back - but they have given her a much bigger amount back so she is happy getting a new car herself now.
Although I havent owned the car long I am young so I will just have to explain to the buyer the reason I am selling is due to the expensive running costs - which is true.
Okay I will see about getting a new reservior and trying to get to a garage for an estimate then. I hate garages! lol0 -

You won't get a good price for it if you say it's expensive to run...Debts: Total - [STRIKE]£39,144.54[/STRIKE] £38,915.900 -
think the OP means `to them personally` the running costs , ie insurance...;) although they have worded it wrong i`ll grant you0

Oh sorry, yeh I mean typically for me. Petrol and tax costs are as expected but insurance is obviously going to be a lot cheaper for someone with a big no claims buying it rather than a young guy with none - hence why it is so expensive for me and that I can no longer justify.0
