Coal bunker

Hi,
I have a coal bunker like the one here and have noticed that now that I am down to the bottom of the bunker, the coal is not "falling" out of the spade flap and I am having to manually shovel the coal forward to the flap inside the bunker.
I was thinking of making some sort of a sloping platform to put inside the bunker that would channel the coal to the spade flap but I'm not sure if the weight of coal would just crush and break any wood arrangement that I could make. I also considered tilting the coal bunker with bricks etc, but the lip of the flap is right down at ground level so it would catch and not open/close.
Anyone any ideas how I can make the coal more "forthcoming" when I get down to the bottom of the bunker or suggest somewhere that I could get a tall bunker?
TIA,
Robin.

What about a platform underneath. Raise the front as well but raise the back more. Then the flap will clear the ground and the bunker will be tilted forward.0
