right - I think i've done it (SOA), but...

my hubby doesn't want me to post it :(

I can sort of understand where he's coming from, but I am so worrried about our situation and don't know where else to turn. We are at the point that we have no money for food, I don't get my first lot of wages for 2 weeks, and it'll be going on all the debts anyway :( I've only had peanuts for my tea tonight.

I can summarise it, but if any kind soul would offer for me to PM them so it is not on the board that would be so kind. I am doing all I can, but I'm trying to work out how to get out of it.

our combined income is £900pm (i think as i've not been paid yet!)
we get £320 tax credits (ditto as above) which have been cut as apparently i was overpaid (I'm in the rocess of debating this with tax credit people)

our outgoings equal £1560.00

I applied for housing and council tax benefit in may, but they have a backlog and can't sort it yet. I ran a few weeks ago and didn't particularly care that I had no food (my mum bought me some in the end). I rang again today and they said they will try to look at it this week - but they only offered that after my coucil tax did not come out of my bank this month!!!! Sod the fat we have no food (we have a 5 year old too!). So fingers crossed i may get it backdated and paid to me soon.
Hubby is starting his own business that he won't get paid for a while, and we never really know when or how much he'll get, so it is not included.

I have started my own business I'm working on in the evenings, but again, I've not seen a penny from that yet either (despite doing a LOT of hard work for it AND it going really well so far). Fingers crossed i'll start getting a little wage from that too, but I've been saying that since february!

We have only had 1 holiday as a family (we've been together for 7 years)as we just have never had any money to spare. WE don't ever go out in the evenings we haven't been for a meal for years and it's getting me down. It's only been this year we've had a car as I was sick of not being able to go anywhere (as we live away from the bus routes and I cannot walk very far - not because i'm fat btw! It's medical!).

I hope someone is feeling generous! tia

that's the problem, my husband won't let me share that on the forum (I personally have no problems doing it) so if anyone is willing to have a peek and let me know what they might suggest, let me know and I can send you the details in a Private message.

Thanks, I know It's a bit unusual, but my hubby is paranoid!

It's a shame you feel you cannot post on here.
It's anonymous and there is a wealth of information between the non judgemental DFW people on here. If someone does offer you a PM then that's great but they may miss something others will pick up on.

There are so many people on here in so many situations/levels of debt....we're all in it together. No-one is going to think anything bad.....and we've ALL said (even those in the most horrendous of circumstances) that we feel much better after joining & sharing on here.

I hope hubby can have a rethink because once you start on here, generally, the only way is up.

i can understand the wanting of keeping things to yourself, i kept my debts to myself until i realised i was in far too deep, tbh my lightbuilb moment came when i was on the train, suddenly i was in tears, got to my destination and swiftly turned and went home
then i confessed all to my parents, who very nicely of them took me to the CAB who were helpful to a point, but were advising me to do a trust deed which i felt i didnt really need

im gonna make some general suggestions which can help and bring a little in every month
anything like insurances see if you can get them elsewhere cheaper than
    your current provider
    same with gas/electricity
landline phone bills see if someone like onetel can help
try to move any mobiles on to pay as you go if they were on contract
cancel any sky packages you have and get freeview or generally cut the packages you have
any savings you are putting away stop them and throw the cash at debts
try and cut down food bills, check out the old style boards for recipies and ideas
any clothes/toys/games your child doesnt playwith or need any more you could try and sell, same with books/dvds you have yourself

also register with https://www.quidco.com - you will get cashback if you use them for switching any insurances/utilities

im sure someone else will come along and try to help with any loans or credit cards you have

    but good luck

Like I said - I, personally, have no problems posting the details on here, but I do not want to cause arguements between me and my hubby - we have enough worries anyway, so i thought i'd ask if anyone would be willing to have a little peek at a private message with my SOA, I'll send it through that, but I don't want to upset my husband.

I'd truly love to post on here - it would be so much easier. he's just worried that someone he knows might 'guess' it's me writing!!! I know it's ridiculous, but i thought if i were to ask if anyone were kind enough to accept a private message I could send over the details.

If that is not possible, then I apologise. but thank you for looking anyway.

Sorry - I hope my posts didn't sound like I was having a pop as I really wasn't. Just wanted to share some DFW lurve and try and express how great the site is! :D

But OK I do understand where you are coming from.

Someone who is much better with APR's and figures & all that will no doubt pop along sooner or later to offer more expert assistance.

In the meantime, have a look at as many first time posts as possible (you will see in their titles things like "Here We Go"..."First Time Please Be Gentle" and such like - dead giveaways!) as the advice will probably be similar for you.

Tackle the debts with the highest APR first.....look at what you can cut back on....what you can transfer if possible to 0% etc.

Go to the Old Style board on the site as well for advice on saving money day to day - it's a great site!

You can pick up a lot of advice, tips & information just by reading a lot of the threads and before you know it you'll be saving pennies and the pounds will follow.

thank you so much guys, I think I just didn't put it across very well in my first post.

Thank you I really am loving looking in here most evenings for tips and gubbins (as hubby works away all week so it keeps me amused!) I'm looking forward to getting sorted, and to be honest I know what I have to do. But it's just almost impossible.

I'm looking for miracle answers I cannot get. The only way for me to have ANY money leftover (as I have NO savings and no standby money in case of emergencies) at all to put towards anything is if i get a job that pays more , but i can't, I'm on the best paid job i can get. It's a matter of waiting for hubby to start getting some money in from his biz.

I'm just praying I will get some money from my biz i've started. The website should be ready this week, so hopefully things should kick off. But I can never guarantee on anything. I feel like i'm at rock bottom. I've been off work for 2 days unpaid too as my offspring is quite poorly :( I can't afford to have any time off, but what can I do?!

Thanks guys, I hope I didn't sound narky at all. I appreciate every little piece of advice. Truly. Thank you.

    No not narky at all.

Stick around (I know you will - you've already said you like it!) and all the info you glean from here, coupled with a more positive outlook, then know that things WILL get better.

(And by the way, I know that feeling of not having any savings or stand by money!!)

Good luck with the businesses, I hope it all comes together very soon.
