New trainers too tight

Options
Just recently bought a new pair of trainers which are bit too tight, how do i go about stretching them. Does damping newspaper help? Any other ideas please?

Many thanks

Are they leather? You can stretch leather by putting water in a plastic bag, tying it carefully, inserting into the trainer and popping it all carefully into the freezer. As the water freezes it expands and stretches the leather.

Not sure what can be done about synthetic fabrics though...

    Thank you.

They are white leather pair of trainers, my only concern would the leather be okay on defrosting/removing from freezer?

Why did you buy them? They don't fit!

Sorry, but it's a bug-bear of mine ... if they're too tight, they don't fit.

I know about it as I have size 10 feet

(but shoes that fit perfectly) :D

Due to owning many previous pairs of adidas trainers in a size 8 silly old me tried the 8's on again and they felt okay. So I bought them but when I've started to walk a bit to break them in, as you do, they are nipping a bit on the right side of my right foot.

So when I got home I came straight onto the messageboard to get advice, not really appreciating sarcastic comments with sore foot!!

    Regards

Well I've done it with a pair of leather shoes and they were ok - I guess it's a personal judgement call really. I figured that it was worth the risk since otherwise they would have to go in the charity bag. They will just need to be treated like any wet leather, ie air them until thoroughly dry and then nourish the leather with a good wax polish.

    Good luck!

    Grrr!!!

This is the second time I've had to confirm that there was no sarcasm intended. It was a genuine question - if shoes pinch, they don't fit and it's reasonable to ask why you bought them.

I am not unsympathetic, as I tried to indicate by stating that as a middle-aged woman with size 10 feet, I understand how difficult it is.

I don't know if you are female or not, but if you are, and you are buying size 8 shoes, then the chances are you are a size or a half size bigger. Then you have a problem, as the High Street stores only stock womens' footwear up to a size 8!

It's interesting to note that you admit that you bought trainers that were too small, but did not do me the courtesy of apologising for your "you are sarcastic" remark.

To be clear ... I was not being sarcastic. I merely tried to point you to the mistake you made, to save you the bother of making it again. What do you do? Frankly, it's not my problem and I really don't care. You can stretch the uppers all you like, but it will make no difference to the last.

    Regards

Err. In the hope of maybe getting back on track here...

Is there a chance that the leather will crack if it's been in the freezer? Would putting vasoline on them first help? I imagine it would be fine unless they were the shiny type. (Not up on shoe terminology. LOL.)
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Why should I apologise to someone who couldn't help me with a query but questioned my ability to buy shoes in my size by a company I had bought shoes from numerous times. I was merely asking a civil question as I have on this messageboard on numerous occasions but now I am regretting doing so.

I didn't say I bought shoes that were too small. I am not going to explain it again because, frankly, there is no need to. This has turned into something ridiculous with the above unhelpful comments.

I have thanked the people who have helped me. I have also been advised to use damp newspaper to pack into the area where stretching is required and the shoe is packed now to see if there is any give.

I was brought up to be polite and if I couldn't say anything nice to not say anything at all. Therefore I am leaving it at that. In the future I shall think twice about asking questions on this messageboard.

    Thanks again

    Terri

My Dh got new indoor football boots and they are giving him blisters. They are 'other material' uppers, rather than leather.
Other than putting plasters on him ( yes I know he's 40, not 4!!!! lol), what can I do to soften the heel of the shoe? I remember my dad using something like 'dubbin' when I was a kid, but that was on leather shoes.
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
