stretch marks

 Does anything work? please only people who have tried remedies (as opposed to people googling for me or telling me nothing works (something must!!!)

I have tried the jean wu method and many creams, done a lot of research but pretty much given up. Asked gp for referral to dermatologist but was refused, however on the nhs website it says you can get retin-a creams on prescription-anyone tried these?

PLease, i only want to hear from people with stretchmarks..i am well aware that cocoa butter bio oil etcetc say they work but they dont.

cheers!

and it is moneysaving btw as ive spent loads on stuff over the years!!

I tried aloe vera gel/cream and although it tightened the skin...it worked for me, contrary to popular belief, Cocoa butter can make stretch marks appear worse unless you have naturally darker skin. I the stretch marks are still "pink" rather than "cream" coloured, theres a better chance that the treatment will work. I also ate flax seed oil capsules and EFA's, which I believe also contributed to the healing. Kept the area out of the sun and it took a while....three months...but it was worth it. Good luck!

Sorry to say but you can't get rid of stretch marks once you have them, unless you have surgery. I wish you could.

I've had them since I was 14 (thanks to a 2 foot growth spurt) and have tried everything. You can lessen their apprerance and make them white so they're barely noticeable but you can't get rid of them totally.

The best thing you can do is learn to accept them, and accept yourself the way you are instead of fretting over it. I have stretchmarks (lots of them) - what's the big deal?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • i have 4 kids and have gained lots of streachmarks, absolutely nothing gets rid of them once you have them, they do fade with time,my youngest is 13 months and mine have faded considerably.
Finally got rent arrears paid off and now have an extra £300 per month, life looks a little bit sweeter.:T

You should be proud of your stretch marks if you are a mum :)

2 Children and not one stretch mark due to a now well known West Indian secret. "Cocoa Butter"Once you have them there is no getting rid although they do fade little but not completley. But you have to use it whilst you are growing and your skin is stretching to maintain its elasticity, you have to feed your skin by creaming it loads.Vitamin E is good for the skin.

I believe that it depends on your genes. My mum and sister got them I have 4 kids and have them very badly my midwife seemed to gasp everytime I pulled my trousers down!! I tried all the suggested creams to no avail. I wished I didnt have them but I do so ha ho what can I do. NOT WEAR A BIKINI THATS WHAT.
