Tips for dropping my food bill?
Comments
-
Student here also living on around £10 per week in food (approx £1.50 of that is on bread & milk) but I share my food bill between 2 of us. between us we spend around £15 between us.
We love 9p noodles and also the 5p pancake mix! I also buy bread when its going off and freeze it. Similarily with meet. I bought a 2kg thing of mince, had gone off by a day, for £2!0 -
And late evening trips to the supermarket (about 8 or 9) can prove very profitable, bakery items and fish etc can be heavily reduced and as above you could stock up or just go down when need be. Got 4 nice rolls from asda earlier for 20p or so.0

Jars of curry sauce in morrisons for 12p now.. ok with pasta.
I make chilli and bolognese sauces in bulk then freeze them and have them with rice/pasta through the week. Cheap, healthly, quick (in microwave) and tastes good."We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." Albert Einstein0 -
I take my hat off to you all for living so frugally food wise. But do you ever stop and think about what you are doing to your health?

Eating cheap is often more healthy because:-
I cook all items myself, no ready meals with too much salt
Limited luxury items, puddings, biscuits, cakes etc.,
Fresh food, not processed and frozen stuff
:j
Cheap healthy meals include
Jacket potato and beans
Sprag Bog
Chilli Con Carne
Vegetable stew
Tuna Pasta Bake
Home made pizza
Vegegtable soups
None of this is cheap tinned crap (don't do that) and all of this is healthy and good value. You cannot get more healthy than cooking for yourself.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
have a look at THIS THREAD
Weezl is aiming to provide a healthy meal plan for a family of four for 1 month for a £100
it is certainly worth looking at for frugal meals which will also deliver all the health requirements too
