Available credit on credit report

One of my debts is a Lloyds TSB credit card which has been closed. However, it's showing up on my credit report that I have £2500 available credit, based on the original credit limit, when the outstanding balance is just under £500. Would I be best asking them to reduce this or is it better to have a higher amount of available credit on your profile when lenders are running checks? I'm going to be applying for a mortgage in a couple of months time and want to make sure my profile is sound.
