Churchwood won't reveal the balance AAARGH!

Am just about to start a dmp with cccs - interview this thurs

hubby is with churchwood on a dmp and obviously we want to lump his debts with mine, ie move his dmp from churchwood to cccs.

the problem is that finding out what he owes is like getting blood from a stone, they will not tell him. once he said 'i may be able to pay it off in the near future - just what do i owe?'

reply - "How much have you got?"

seriously.

once i was advised to contact his creditors directly (at least we know who they are)
, well hubby will not let me do this he is scared of them harrassing him

any ideas about what to do??

thanks

  • hi genie im not too sure about finding out from the company and doing dmps but thought i would help bump this up for you so hopefully someone who knows alittle more can help

however from reading on this forum i do believe cccs is good to work with, regarding contacting creditors your hubby would need to contact them himself they wont give you details about his debts but i would think if he lets them know you are now dealing with cccs they would be happier anyway because they know that payments you make to cccs all go to them and no one else taking there cut.

once again though thats just what my thoughts from reading other peoples stories of doing dmps
hopefully someone will clarify it for you

and well done on leaving churchwood
  • I would send a Subject Access Request to Churchwood asking for a statement of payments and the balance for each creditor to Churchwood. Tell them that all the information must be returned in full within five days. They are legally required to provide you with the information, and failure to do so is a serious offence.

    Good luck x

  • They are required to provide you the information but it's 40 day
  • OK, it's hard to get any leverage as I'm not the one with the account

    will post what happens
