I know those guys are just sales people, but the description could be a bit more precise, don't you think? CPU: Intel Celeron - well, I had an Intel Celeron 300 about a decade about, and it was great, but it would be a bit slow nowadays. Or Optical Drive: yes and DVD: no - so does it have a CD only drive? And what is the battery life - anything around 2 hours would be pretty useless for a lot of purposes.

So it may be a good offer, but I would not trust those guys to know one laptop from another ...

PS: the reviews are pretty bad for the 11Z - slow, uncomfortable and short battery life are the main complaints. So maybe there is a reason for the sketchy description and the discount (which makes it still more expensive than it is in the US...).
  • Both are netbooks so no optical drives in either machine.
Celeron CPU is one of the ultra low voltage ones so battery life should be quite good...far superior to the one you will have had years ago.

I am looking for a netbook and like the Asus which looks to be a bargain but on looking at reviews it seems that if there is a problem with the battery then the netbook must be sent back to have a replacement. Seems it is embedded in and not removable.
Maybe I read it wrong??? Can anyone confirm? :(

Several reviews state 2:45 for a new battery and light use - I think that is pretty terrible for a netbook. Plus the CPU is termed "even slower than an Atom", although I find that a bit surprising.

Thanks. It does look good value. I am also looking at the smaller NC10 at Argos online for £229 or the N130 same price. I would prefer the NC10 because it has a 6 cell battery and Bluetooth but the N130 with 3 cell and no Bluetooth comes in pink. Both are XP and I can't make my mind up.
Now if I could get the NC10 in pink for much the same price then I'd go for that, if it came with Windows 7 even better.
I guess I am asking too much!
  • N140 from CPW at £229.

Alternatively, the N130 from 3 including 1Gb per month mobile broadband at £17.50 per month.

This product is out of stock and can not be ordered at this time :(

Think I would just like to pay cash and use my home wifi or hotspot.
    Thanks for your reply :)
  • N140 is still available in stores I think. Certainly was last time I enquired. HTH.
  • Seems the EEEPC 1008HA has also had a price drop at the Simply Asus site, its £200 there also.

This netbook has an intergarted battery but there are newer models for a little more. I bought a 11 inch netbook for £250 and am very happy with it, there are some bargains to be had in the clearance or 'open box' section.
