You can speak to the CCCS, a debt charity who will advise you. Google them(they are free to use and will help if they can).

Debts are very rarely wiped off, but bankruptcy could be an option, best speak to the CCCS. Do you own your own home?

    There are some possibilities.

You could try reclaiming the credit card charges that you have ahd on the account. These were not subject to the recent test case that the banks won so you may be able to reduce the amount owed through that.

You may also be able to request a copy of the customer credit agreement (CCA). If credtian terms are not on the original agreement, it may not be enforcable. If this is the case then if they took you to court for not paying, you could point out that the agreement was not properly executed and therefore the court should not enforce the debt (section 127 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974)

The only other way might be to make a reduced settlement offer, but it doesn't sound as though you have the funds or means for this. I would look at the CCA route as you have already defaulted on these debts over 6 ears ago so they couldn't threaten you with putting a default on your credit file - they drop off 6 years after the date of the original defailt (or within 6 months of this).
