Can't Live With This Restrictive Debt

  • Had a bit of a crazy time of it today, ready for some sleep shortly. I've just got in from work and shopping to find that the landline isn't working. There's no dial tone at all but the broadband is still working. I've phoned the line suppliers up and done a few tests but still no joy. They've reported a fault and will contact a BT engineer to have a look. They also said if they find that it's their line with the fault there will be nothing to pay but if it is a problem with our equipment there could be a payment due of upto £105.

Anyone had a similar problem as this and does it sound right that I could be charged for the fault?

In other news it was payday today so tonight I've made some payments to my credit and debit accounts. I have paid £75 to MBNA, £30 to Capital One and £10 to my NatWest debit account.

I spent £5 on petrol to get me to work. At work I spent £1.73 at Boots, £3.98 on lunch at the airport and £1.88 at McDonalds. I know that's a lot for one day but I've got food in now to keep me going in work without the need to spend anymore. £8.10 on magazines at WHSmiths. On the way home I did the food shopping and spent £96.86 there. I got a voucher for 5p off fuel from there as well and used that on filling my car up with petrol. That cost me £43.42, a saving of £2.05 overall.

Think that's pretty much it for now, got all my Direct Debits coming out on Monday and I need to get my currency for my trip to Amsterdam next weekend.

Has anyone been there before? Anyone got any good tips for things to see and do? Any money saving ideas? :D
  • Good news regarding the phoneline, an engineer turned up and restored the line and it's working fine, was a problem with their equipment so they haven't charged us :j

Saturday I spent £2.22 at Boots on food and drink to keep me going but that was it for my spending.

Sunday was the end of the financial year for the company I work for so it was a bit manic in work with auditors checking absolutely everything! We got pizza for our troubles which softened the blow a bit! I did spend £3.33 at Spar though on food.

Yesterday I got my Euros for my trip, got 200 at the buy rate for £158.91. I forgot to bring food with me to work so I ended up spending £1.47 at WHSmiths and £4 at Spar on food and drink!

Most of my Direct Debits went out last night also. £26.33 to O2 (Mobile), £19.75 for my Laptop, £22 to Specsavers for contact lenses, £39 to Sky this will be my last payment to them, £132.64 for car finance, £106.49 for car insurance and £24.95 to the gym.

Didn't pay anything for broadband this month as I got it free, should be the same next month as well.

Thats about it for the last few days. I still have roughly £350 left from this months wages which is pretty good for me. I have my money for Amsterdam, just need to get some cheap travel insurance, any ideas? and I need to find a cheap bag for hand luggage to avoid the problems I had with EasyJet last time I flew with them!
