How can I avoid buying a new sofa?

We have an ikea sofa with removalble covers, but ours is very tight and you have top sort of stretch it on when you put it back. Never seems to move about.
But we do use throws (and fleeces at the colder times of year) to cover the seats, as with 3 kids (11,6 and 2) with one more due in May its easier to wash the throws rather than the full set of covers each time.

I have one of those sofas. Good value (i.e. cheap) and surprisingly comfy. The cover is a pain though. I suspect that it is either a design flaw or a problem with the user (me).0

I used to pin the arm caps on sofas with upholstery twist pins. They are very small clear dome-shaped plastic heads with a tiny corkscrew style pin that you literally twist in to the fabric. Don't know if these would help in this case. Also I wouldn't use if young children around, even if pinning them in in the out of sight places, just in case...:A0

Thanks everyone, it might be that it shrunk after being washed. I have to work out a way to get the plastic tubes to stop popping out when I sit on it (must be because of the shrinkage...)
Guess I'll have to get a new cover - £39 from IKEA, about £34 too much if you ask me - but that's what eBay's for...
Thanks again!0
