Question re: GAIN

Hi,
I have a GAIN (Gone Away Information Network) marker on my credit file which is linked to a company I used to owe money too but is now paid and I have no record of the debt on my credit file as it has dropped off it due to it being over 6 yrs ago. My question is can I get the GAIN marker removed as the account is now long since paid?
Thanks x

Honestly, i don't know. I would contact the CRAs yourself and ask about it been removed as it is no longer relevant.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

Yep - that means you moved without telling the lender (lol, naughty boy!).... it remains for a total of 6 years; however it will still be there to let other lenders know you deliberately moved without telling them.... paid or not, the facts are that you moved without telling a creditor your new address and they found you lol.... read here for details: Credit Reference Agencies
    Gone Away Information Network (GAIN):
This data can only be viewed by other participants of GAIN (i.e. other lenders). GAIN works by the lender telling the CRA's that their customer has moved without notifying them of the new address.

How long does the data remain?
GAIN stays on your credit file for a period of 6 years.

    hahahaah - nope, never!

BUT you could always appeal to their better nature and ask if they will remove it or add a Notice of Correction to your credit file and make up some sort of sob story like 'I was running from domestic abuse' - that normally overrides many declines (I never told you that lol) :rotfl:
