I've no idea whether every Freecycle group works the same way or not.
I recently joinded Swindon Freecycle. They're located on Yahoo groups. I placed a WANTED advert and got a load of responses. So I'm happy.
However, I can't find my own posting on the group message board. Is there a "find your posts" link anywhere?

How do I convert my "wanted" into a "received"?Happy chappy0
-
Not necessary ,Tom ,to post a received notice, other than the normal private 'thank you' after collecting.0

How would I convert an offered to taken though?Happy chappy0

Post another message saying Taken....so and so...Stroud. But only the giver need do that. Will find my local t and c's and post later.0

Go to the group site.
Click 'Post' ....then either put Offered...so and so...Stroud ...or Wanted..so and so.... Stroud.
Once an offered item is taken then post 'Taken..so and so..Stroud.
If you have put a Wanted post in then no need to say Received and no need for the giver to say Received. Just a private thank you.0 -
So, does this mean that the original offered and the new taken messages are not linked in any way?
So how could someone who finds the offered post know that it had been taken?Happy chappy0 -
If i offer something i put an offered post on then once picked up i put a taken post on. If i rarely put a wanted post on i then put a received post up...other than that you can actually delete your wanted post then you wont receive any more offers (if you're lucky).
Also not everyone puts a received post on after receiving something from me so i think it helps so I personally dont keep getting emails asking for said item.

Oh and on ours you have a search bar ,if you put your username in there then your posts should come up, failing that, try putting in the item you've asked for or offered

Have you tried downloading the freecycle member plugin? It is available for both Firefox and Internet Explorer
It allows you to track your own posts and update them when required.0 -
I understand it all now. Because I'm new and moderated then my posts don't appear as mine.
I originally had thought you could change the status of your post from offered to taken. That would be a better way of working.
The search doesn't work properly on my freecycle - if I search for *tom* in the username search then it returns items with *tom* in the message, like "tombraider" and so on.Happy chappy0
