Tesco - 4 berth Family tent + mats + bags £49

Seems to have been reduced from £99. Saw in my local (Corstorphine Edinburgh) at weekend but no stock. Wife was in today and they had some so we bought...
I am aware of the Sainsbury's £25 offer - and the comments regarding the lack of quality to the tent...
I will post an update on the apparent quality (or otherwise) of this one when I get a chance to 'put it up' - hopefully tonight...

Friends have had two tents from Tesco last summer (including what seems like the same deal as this one last year at £99 inc sleeping bags etc that was then reduced to £49) and based on their experiences I would strongly advise that you avoid them. The problem is they are hopeless in the rain and just not waterproof at all even after treatment, they literally had water pouring in in heavy shows particularly around the window seams. Twice they got caught out with two different tents (second being the replacement after taking the first back) and it put a damper on their festival both times.0

I was looking at tents at http://www.cybercheckout.co.uk/
They seem to have some good deals eg 8 person tent for £85.00

Anyone used them before for tents?
I have used them for before for a basketball hoop which was cheap but good quality.0 -

I'm no expert, but first impressions seem reasonable - Tent has 2 rooms which clip inside an outer frame/windsheet. The inner tents do not touch the outer tents (which when I was young was always the cause of water getting into the tent. The tents themselves are a reasonable size when assembled.
The tent instructions do say 'not for use in severe weather'...
comes with 2 'mummy' style sleeping bags and 2 'normal' (which can be zipped together), double inflatable airbed and 2 roll mats.
I expect my wife and daughter to say 'never again' after our first family trip so £50 was more than enough to invest. And 4 sleeping bags and an inflatable mattress can certainly be reused and wouldnt represent bad value for £50 I suppose if the tent turns out to be not much cop in the rain.
But as I said, first impressions are favourable.0 -

I suppose I will have to wait and see - although they may have changed the design as the doors in the outer sheet are in the sides, with the inner tent doors at a 90 degree angle to this - in the outercover over the inner tents there are no doors/flaps etc in the material covering the tents, just in the side doors - hopefully this will improve things !0 -
I bought one of the Sainsbury ones Saturday befiore last and was really chuffed until I read the 2 negative replies, so will be returning for a refund.
Has anyone tried the Halfords £99 all in one set?0 -

My first post so firstly hi everyone.....
I know a little about tents and can highly rate the 'avon' eurohike tent from millets, i have two of these now and most recently went camping in the forest of dean during the gloucestershire floods last month and not a drop even after 11 hours of heavy rain storms entered the tent, my first avon also survived many days of continuous rain again without a drop entering the tent, it is a tad expensive at 49.99 for a 3 birth but does have good storage space in the porch, we got 2 65l rucksacks, several bags and all the cooking stuff with still enough space to sit in the porch!
