Payment Plan Help!!!!!

I had a visit from a Bailiff regarding a court fine for speeding which has gone upto £295, Once the Bailif had left a letter I phoned the contact number, I was given automated options and had to offer some form of payment, so I typed in £30 a month which I can afford , my wage is min wage etc and have outgoings like rent etc , this was rejected and asked for a higher payment, so tried £40 then £50 then £60 it then suggested £100 by which time I had been on my mobile for ages, I pressed OK to the £100. I really can not afford this much and surely they should except some offer from me. I have no problem in paying what I owe but not in 3 installments. (I could not speak to a Live Voice) Hope this makes sense and someone can advice me.

    Hi

Sorry you haven't had a response yet, so thought I'd bump this to the top in the hope someone can advise.

This Baliffs phone system sounds terrible and certainly should not be allowed. Unless anyone advises differently I would write to them explaining what happened and withdrawing your offer to pay £100 installments, say that you never intended to make that offer and you cannot afford it but were confused by the phone system. Then I would set out a monthly payment plan that you can reasonably afford.
Did you give out any bank card details etc on the call?

I don't know anything about this type of issue.

No i did not give card details, I was given the option to do that and pay online or to send a cheque or postal order. The collection agency was eperating on behalf of Leeds Magistarates Court and I am expected to send payment for the £100 by 3rd of March
