Suzy- bottle says 6 months, websites say 12 months or 18 months. I think I bought it around the new year before last....I remember posting on here I had a sudden urge for a snowball so I went and bought a bottle!! Trouble is, time goes so fast it might have even been the new year before that!

Doesn't avocaat have egg in it? wouldn't risk it personally...

    Not it hasn't - it's less than 15 months.

Depends on the % by vol. Beer goes off. Whisky does not...

Does it have a "use by" date on it? If so and it's past that, I wouldn't risk it personally. On the other hand, if it tastes ok, it probably is ok. Decisions, decisions......

Some very good advice I once read on the OS board was:

    Smell it.

If it smells okay, taste it.

If it tastes okay, eat/drink it.

Eggs/cream would smell and taste horrible if they had gone off, surely.

But agree that if you are not happy drinking it, throw it away now, so you can stop worrying about it.

nah, not worried, I'd try it and more than likely be fine, but you know that you're getting desparate when the only alcohol in the house that keeps rearing its head is a 14 month old bottle of advocaat :rotfl:

No alcohol has ever lasted 14 months in this house

    I'd still risk it :rotfl:
