If the finance is in your name you're the legal owner of the car - the registered keeper is simply the person responsible for taxing it etc.0

Surely you were part of the buying process to have the finance in your name!!
How did it occur that you signed for all the finance documents but allowed someone else to sign the V5??
I simply can't see how you can complain to either GM or the Finance Company, you two were the ones putting pen to paper!
Is the finance secured on the car??0 -
ok...let me explain,i bought the car brand new for my wife, she was not working so obviously the finance would be in my name as i was working. The car was unregistered(brand new)they then put the car in my wifes name.As its a brand new car there is no previous owner therefore there is no transfer of ownership.in other words they sold me the finance but gave ownership of the car to my wife, surely that cant be right!!!!
The reason this all came to light was because of a misselling of a ppi policy with the finance company.I made a claim and was told i dont have the right to claim as the car is not mine !!!!!! HELP0 -
The registered keeper is not the owner of the car, just the registered keeper and an address for the DVLA to send reminders/ speeding fines etc. If there is finance owing, then the finance company is the true owner till it is paid off.0
