only thing i can suggest is you call Sainsbury's Careline on 0800 636 262

only 2 possibilities i can think of : 1 the service is povided by care workers say or 2: its a service just for that store(but i cant see how people would pay for the shopping unles they paid by cash)

another question is the person who delivered did they have a sainsburys uniform on eg tie, name badge, maybe purple (or orange) fleece or a purple shirt

I know when Sainsburys home delivery first started, you could order on the phone (my sister worked on the order picking) but I didn't realise you still could. If it is still running, then it's a good idea for those, like your mum, who aren't online but still need the service - just a shame it isn't publicised more.

  • I think Waitrose offer this service.
  • You can order over the telephone. Obviously its not the quickest way of ordering the food as you would online or even visiting the shop but I have delivered to people where they ordered bulk heavy items over the telephone and we deliver it.

You need to phone the customer careline and they will deal with it all for you, as far as I know they still do it on special requests.

    Thanks,

Both my Parents are elderly and housebound. My Mum asked me if I could find out if any store offered telephone shopping. She used to do this with ICELAND until the local store closed a couple of years ago.

I sent Sainsburys an email explaining about my elderly Parents situation, that they have access to a phone but not internet, and that they want to order home delivery from Sainsburys.

I asked if the only option is for me to set up an online shop account with their address, and for me to place/pay for the orders.

After 2 days, all I received was a standard email reply with a link to HOW TO SET UP AN ONLINE ACCOUNT. :(

At present, I use Tesco in my name with their address as an alternative delivery address.

My Mum phones me, tells me what she wants and when, I then do the shop online and pay. My Mum then pays me what the shop came to.

It would be so much easier if my Mum could do this direct by phone to the store - and my Parentas would be happier as they are fiercley independent despite their condition.
