Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I HAVE been looking at the various OS threads but have not seen the answer to this question.
Can I freeze a meal if I have used a tin or jar of shop bought sauce to make it? I normally make my own sauces but have been given some jars of carbonara/curry/pasta sauces and know that I will not use the whole jar in one go (just me in the house and I don't like to throw food away) or even a whole jar in one week. Will the preservatives already in the sauces have any ill effect on the freezing process?
Many thanks in advance for you help.

Thankyou Gigervamp:A! I now know that I can make about 20 meals tomorrow, all ready to go in the freezer and no waste at all :j

I have done this many a time with leftovers and the meals have been fine - no ill effects at all!0

I have done this but find the sauce tends to split when defrosted.. and I end up with coloured water in the bowl as well as a little sauce...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
